About the Radar Data
This radar display prefers NEXRAD Level 3 data from the KMHX weather station in Newport, NC and can automatically fall back to KLTX in Wilmington when Newport data is stale or unavailable. The map view stays centered on the Crystal Coast either way.
Animation: Use the time slider to view radar evolution over the past 2 hours, or click the play button to animate through all available frames.
Sources and layers: Use the settings menu (⚙️) to choose Auto, KMHX, or KLTX, and switch between radar products for precipitation intensity, wind patterns, and accumulation data.
